Students of the Doctoral programmes at the Faculty of Medicine, and the students of the Systems biology and medicine –
study track in Master’s Programme in Life Science informatics.

The students should be able to prepare research plans which follow and respect the
legal and ethical guidelines concerning clinical investigation, are based on appropriate
research methods, and are accompanied by necessary documentation for clinical

Period I.

Lectures: Introduction; Different study settings in clinical investigation; Legislation,
regulations and declarations; Study plans and applications for ethical approval; Execution of
clinical study; Clinical investigation and clinical medicine.

All materials are provided during the course, including scientific articles.

Lectures and reflective learning diaries. Supportive learning material in Moodle portal.

Min. 80% attendance to lectures and a learning diary.
In case student's contribution is insufficient, compensatory studies will be required.

Grading scale: Pass/Fail

Lectures and a learning diary. In the learning diary, the student writes briefly about what he/she considered were
the most important issues of the lectures. The length of the learning diary should be 0,5-1 A4 page per lecture.

Lectures: 10 h
Independent study and literary assignments: 17 h
