Description

The course is not available to students from other degree programs than Agricultural, Environmental and Resource Economics Master’s programme (AGERE).

The first year studies in the Master programme. The students participate the seminar at least once during 1st year spring term.

Academic scientific writing supports the competence provided by this course. Additional courses in scientific communication are also recommended.

After the course the students know

- how to plan, write and present a research proposal

- how to act as a discussant and opponent in the scientific context

- how to contribute to the scientific debate

- how to write an abstract and a summary of research results

- how to write a thesis and how to present scientific research results

- how to communicate scientific results to a wider audience

The 2nd year of Master studies

Arranged in both autumn and spring term every year.

The course is compiled of students’ written and oral presentations, discussions and debates concerning each student's own thesis project. The learning is based on the feedback of peer students and on the guidance of supervising professors and teachers.

AGERE-020 Seminars will change to online form from 16.3.2020 until further notice. Online seminars will be organized on Wednesdays from 16 to 18. Please follow the course Moodle area for instructions.

Given during seminar

Activities include the writing of a research plan and a summary of the thesis, oral presentations and discussions about the thesis, chairing the sessions and acting as an opponent. Immediate feedback is obtained from peer students and supervisors.
