Primarily for the Master’s students specializing in Plant Pathology and Mycology.
Basic knowledge in plant pathology and basic knowledge on working in a laboratory.
After the course the students can identify the most important fungal diseases of cultivated crops based on symptoms and their causal agents by microscopy.
The students can place fungi and fungus-like pathogens in their correct phylogenetic/taxonomic groups and know the main principles of their life cycles with special emphasis to disease management practices in crop production.

Significance, management, morphology, life cycles, identification, phylogenetic classification and nomenclature of fungi and fungus-like plant pathogens most harmful for food production.
Exam, written course reports, collecting disease herbarium.
56 h combined lectures and lab exercises, 77 h written course reports and collecting disease herbarium. Students must participate at the minimum 75% of the lectures/lab exercises.
