Description
- The Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine coordinates the course.
- This is an optional course.
- The course is part of the Field-Specific Studies module.
- The course is available to students of other degree programmes.
This course is a practical introduction how to purify recombinant proteins (antibodies or user contributed material) using the Äkta Avant FPLC device.
The course can be completed at any stage of studies. In the autumn term 2017, course is not organised annually.
Day 1
14:00 - Preparation of the FPLC machine
16:00 - Start of the affinity chromatography column sample loading
Day 2
8:00 – 9:00 - Affinity chromatography column washing and elution
9:00 – 11:00 - Size exclusion chromatography
11:00 – 16:00 - SDS-PAGE & Coomassie staining
Day 3
9:00 – 12:00 - ITC run using the purified proteins (antibody – antigen interaction or receptor – ligand interaction)
13:00 – 15:00 – Discussion and analysis of results
Pass/fail, attendance required
The course is limited to 16 students and the students work in teams of 2 or 3.
Each team occupies a 3-day slot from the period 2.-18.12.2019.
