The selected literature gives the student insights to and helps them to understand:
- the Arctic as a system, in which the ocean, land and atmosphere are intimately linked
- how national and international scientific monitoring programmes brought to light our
present understanding of Arctic environmental change
- how research results have been successfully used to achieve international legal actions to
lessen some of the environmental impacts in the Arctic
- specific topics related to Arctic fresh water, marine, terrestrial ecosystems and
biodiversity in them
3rd‒5th study year
The course literature deals with environmental research in the Arctic and mitigation of anthropogenic impacts covering atmospheric and climatic, terrestrial, aquatic and marine areas.
Literature exams performed on days for general exams. Students can propose literature on Arctic topics based on their own special interests.
