Microbial diversity; Structure and functions of microorganisms, or other comparable studies.
The aim is to deepen students understanding of bio- and environmental technology in water (drinking water, wastewater) and waste treatment and recycling, and related topics, such as bioreactors in environmental technology, and bioenergy production. The course provides students with the tools to approach and solve urban environmental challenges.
Every second year in uneven years. Recommended to advanced students, B.Sc. or M.Sc.
Every second year, students may complete the course by studying the video recordings of lectures and other course material from Moodle. The seminar and moodle pass worlds should be agreed separately with the responsible person of the course.
Students will be able to understand
- Water treatment and recycling techniques (wastewater, drinking water).
- Waste recycling and treatment techniques
- Related bioreactor technology and bioenergy production.

Teaching language is English in the presence of non-Finnish speaking students.
