Intermediate-level course on metaphysics or equivalent
During the course, students will deepen their knowledge of the various aspects of metaphysics and prepare to specialise in one or two sub-areas by familiarising themselves with recent literature. The course aims to deepen the students' ability to analyse and understand the different types of argumentation in metaphysics.
T. E. Tahko: An Introduction to Metametaphysics (2 cr)
A. Bird: Nature’s Metaphysics: Laws and Properties (3 cr)
T. Sider: Writing the Book of The World (3 cr)
Literature can also be agreed upon on a case by case basis.
The lecture course (exam/essay) and the literature exam/essay are graded as one entity. Grading is carried out on a scale of 0 to 5. The evaluation criteria are based on the learning outcomes.
The Faculty of Social Sciences’ Examinarium exams are replaced from 16 March with alternative arrangements until 31 May 2020 until further notice. Register for Examinarium in WebOodi and contact the teacher about the books / check the course page for further instructions. (NOTE: do not register in Examinarium or reserve the room for the exam.)
Typically a lecture course (3 cr). In addition to this, students will complete a literature examination (2 cr) or an essay (2 cr). All students can also complete the course as a more extensive literature examination (5 cr).
