Description

MSc students

Having passed this course a student understands how forest operations affect the environment. The student knows the available means to prevent or mitigate the adverse effects of these activities and understands the importance of governance measures, such as certification, for maintaining and promoting diversity and multiple functions of forests.

Period IV

The course starts with lectures and afterwards students will make a report on specific topics where they will examine how to prevent adverse impacts on the environment.

Topics include: impacts on soils, water, wildlife, biodiversity, pathology. Social impacts: recreation and scenery. Modifying technology and methods to decrease adverse effects. Certification.

Lectures, suggested literature, student reports and exam.

All material will be announced at the course and distributed through Moodle.

Scale 0-5.

Due to current COVID-19 situation general examinations in lecture halls are cancelled. You can contact the teacher to ask about alternative completion methods.
