Description

Master degree students in forest sciences.

At least 120 credits in Forestry, or a BSc in other appropriate subject.

After the course the student has a broad knowledge about forest bioenergy and can explain and analyze the technical, ecological, economic and environmental aspects of the production, and utilization.

Period I.

Policy framework and global issues around bioenergy, energy theory and combustion technologies, biomass materials and supplies, procurement and logistics, sustainable production of woody biomass, environmental impacts of production and use, economics of bioenergy production and markets for bioenergy, excursion.

Lectures (36 h), group work (20 h), assignments (10 h), excursion (8 h), written examination (3 h), self study (58 h).

Distributed material during the course.

Written examination. Grading scale: 0–5.

Maximum of 50 students. Teaching in English. Opetus englanniksi.
