En este curso, estudiaremos diferentes formas de representar la migración (y fenómenos relacionados) en la literatura contemporánea en lengua española. Asimismo, nos familiarizaremos con la situación de los escritores en lengua española residentes en Finlandia.

Advanced Studies in Spanish Philology: non nuclear; subject within the thematic unit “Hispanic Literature and Cultural Industries in the Hispanic World” (“Valintaryhmä 1: Espanjankielinen kirjallisuus ja kulttuuriteollisuus”).

For students of Spanish Philology.

It could it be offered to other students.

If the course is opened to other students than those of Spanish, students should have a good level of Spanish to be able to read, talk and write in Spanish.

Other courses that support the further development of the competence provided by this course are:

- those offered in the thematic group with the title “Hispanic Literature and Cultural Industries in the Hispanic World”;

-those courses offered in the thematic group “Hispanic Sociolinguistics”.

After completing this course, students are able to:

-understand, think critically and value the complexity of concepts such as national literature or literature in Spanish contrasting and evaluating multiple perspectives;

-analyze the context of the migration literature in Spanish and transnational writing.

- reflect about the frequent topics of migrant writers: the identity, the borders, the journey, utopias, etc.

-apply an interdisciplinary approach to the topics discussed in the classroom and related them to other academic or working situations.

The course will not be offered every year.

It will last 2 periods.

Some of the following topics will be developed in the course, depending on the teacher:

-Exile and literature.

-Migrant literature: the settings, the themes, relationship to post-colonial literature, different categories.

-Methodological frameworks to study migration and literature.

-A study case (that can vary depending on the teacher): the Moroccan literature in Spanish.

It will be offered during the course.

-Individual and group activities aimed at solving problems, writing reports, analyzing, evaluating materials, etc.

-Recommended readings.

-The teacher will inform at the beginning of the course how his/her activities will be documented.

Contact teaching modality:

- Compulsory attendance is required.

- Individual work: resolution of a practical case, design of an activity, etc. and/or exam.

General grading scale from 0 to 5.

When the course is offered in the form of contact teaching, compulsory attendance is required and a final exam and/or a final work.
