Master's Programme in Materials Research is responsible for the course.

Module where the course belongs to:

  • MATR300 Advanced Studies in Materials Research
    Compulsory for:
    1. Study Track in Inorganic Materials Chemistry

The course is not available to students from other degree programmes.

Before starting the research project students should have actively studied for one year in the masters programme.

During the research project the students learn in-deth practical skills on synthesis and/or characterisation of inorganic materials.

During the second year of the studies, in connection with the Master's thesis.

The research project can be done year around, as agreed with the supervisor.

Research on an assigned topic.

Required reference articles will be indicated by the supervisor, and further literature searched by the student as needed.

Daily communication with the assigned supervisor.

The assesment is based on daily performance in the laboratory and the written report. Scale is pass/fail.

  • Please contact lecturer Mikko Ritala for registration.
  • This course is recommended to be combined to the research part of Master's thesis.

The course is accomplished by conducting research on an assigned topic. The topic is an extension or closely related to the Master's thesis.

During the research project the student makes notes daily into the laboratory notebook. A report will be written of the research. The report can be included in the Master's thesis as (one part of) an experimental section.
