Master’s students in pharmacy and post-graduate students. Course has been specially designed for students with biopharmaceutics major.
A basic course in pharmacokinetics is required before this course.
The student recognizes the pharmacokinetic models, describes the major pharmacokinetic parameters and understands their connection to physiological factors. The student is able to describe and calculate factors affecting absorption, metabolism, distribution and excretion of drugs. Knowledge is needed both in the development of new drugs and drug formulations and in counseling on the use of medicines.
Pharmacy studies during 4th and 5th year.
The course deepens the understanding of the pharmacokinetics concepts and the links between pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and physiological factors. The course is devoted to the significance of key parameters and their application in pharmacokinetic calculations. The clinical relevance of kinetic and dynamic factors is assessed. The student is able to solve pharmacokinetic parameters based on the given data and calculate and computerize them and understand their significance. The course is used to build and use simulation models and to solve computer-aided pharmacokinetic parameters.
Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics: Concepts and Applications, M. Rowland and T.N. Tozer, 2010 and lecture material. A textbook is essential for the course.
Scale 0-5. In the exam, the theory and invoices are evaluated separately, both of which must be completed in order to qualify for the final score.

Lectures (14 h), workshops (10 h) and journal clubs (6 h) and exam (4 hrs). Lectures and workshops are in English if there are foreign students in the course. The final exam includes theoretical questions and pharmacokinetic calculations.
