Introduction to Politics and Organisations, Decision-making in Finland and the European Union
After completing the course, students will be familiar with the principles of organisation research, as well as the latest research trends in the field and their perspectives on the dividing and unifying features of public, private and non-governmental organisations, and the changes in their societal role. They will be able to analyse and critically evaluate the structures and practices of various organisations, as well as apply their learning to social activities and work.

The course will increase knowledge on the trends of organisation research, particularly in relation to organisations in the public sector, new organisational forms and political activity in organisations. Instrumental, cultural and mythical perspectives on organisations will be presented. The course also examines the organisation of interest groups and the pursuit of power in organisations.

The course is one of the optional intermediate courses under the Study Track in Politics and Organisations. NB! The course is compulsory for major subject students in the study line for administration and organisations who began their studies on 1 August 2016 or earlier.
Compulsory lecture course; the required literature will be specified during the course. The completion methods will be specified in the teaching programme. If all student places are taken (no more than 30 students can be accommodated), students of other degree programmes may complete the course by taking an online book examination in the Examinarium facility on three books included in the required literature.
