Ensisijaisesti sosiaalitieteiden maisteriohjelman opiskelijoille.
Students will be able to independently apply the quantitative methods of social research (e.g., regression analysis, factor analysis, variance analysis, logistical regression analysis) and conduct quantitative social science research. Students will be able to critically evaluate various research designs, the realibility of indicators and analyses published in the field.
They will be able to handle statistical material in work-related applications. Visualisation, data processing and modelling skills learned during the course can be applied, in addition to research work, to a wide range of professional duties in both the public and private sector.
Autumn term of the first year of studies
Students learn to conduct quantitative social science research during the course. Lectures and assignments steer students to experiment with and realise methods used in the field, which helps them understand related assumptions and problems, as well as critically evaluate choices made by others.
