Doctoral candidates in YEB doctoral school. Members from other schools are welcome if seats are available.

No previous knowledge on R needed.

Some background knowledge on basic statistics.

The goal of this course is to learn some very basic skills in R and is intended for those of you who would like to start using R. The course also gives a quick reminder of such basic statistics concepts as summarizing data and basic (descriptive) statistics.

If you have worked with R previously, then this course is likely too basic for you.

  • Introduction to R
  • R-operations
  • Reading and generating data
  • Data frames
  • Data types
  • Missing values
  • Summarizing data and basic (descriptive) statistics
  • Basic plots
  • Data transformations
  • Other: e.g. Errors, Cheat-sheets, Packages

100% attendance required, contact the teacher for exceptions.

The course completion requires:

  • active engagement with course material
  • attending all teaching sessions

Pass / Fail

Bring your own laptop.

If you feel you need to refresh your memory on basic statistics and have not used R before, the course is recommended (but not obligatory) to be completed before attending YEB-116 Data exploration, regression, GLM and GAM.
