Race, gender and culture- Summary

The intersectionality of ‘race’, gender and culture will be stressed throughout the module within an analytical framework that draws on feminist theory, critical ’race’ theory, cultural theory and post-/de-colonial studies. On successful completion of this module students should be able to demonstrate understandings of debates within Sociology, Cultural Studies and Post-/De-colonial Studies on ‘race’, gender and culture and their implications for matters of identity, politics, representation, theory and everyday cultural understandings.
