The student will be familiarise her/himself with basic systems thinking concepts and terminology, specifically related to climate change and related global crises. The course will help the student to analytically approach complex, global phenomena, from the perspective of interconnections of Earth systems and human systems and systemic change. The course will foster the student’s expertise and self-confidence in her/his systems thinking skills.
Introduction to systems thinking and basic concepts. The Earth system. Human systems and Climate Change. Ways of making change.
The course starts on 18. January and ends 2. May 2020. Weekly distance learning sessions via Zoom are held on Wednesdays at 14:15 to 16:00. In addition, the course includes a full day (8-16) length negotiation simulation, that will be held via Zoom on Friday 9. April or Friday 16. April 2020 (students will choose one of the two dates). Participation in the weekly sessions as well as the negotiation simulation day is required for course completion.
