The couse is suitable for students of Master's Programme in Languages and for everyone interested in the theme.
Wolof, an Atlantic language of the Niger-Congo phylum, is the biggest and most spoken language in Senegal and The Gambia, but can also be found in Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Mauretania. Wolof is used cross-culturally and functions as the language of wider communication. In Senegal, it is spoken by more than 90% of the population even though only about 40% of these speakers identify as being Wolof. Constantly spreading, the language has a wide reach not only in West Africa but has propagating all over the world.

The course is organized in co-operation with the Master´s Programme in Languages. Master´s Programme in Languages arranges the course in which the Open University students attend.
