Dear students,

unfortunately I need to reschedule the teaching of this course to the academic year 2018/19.
For all of you who need to take the course during spring 2018 it will be possible only as READING course.
Please contact me via email before the end of January in case you are interested in taking the course as READING.

Kuvaus

Optional course.

Master's Programme in Mathematics and Statistics is responsible for the course.

The course belongs to the Mathematics and Applied mathematics module.

The course is available to students from other degree programmes.

Master studies

The course include a self-contained introduction to classical mechanics, Lagrange and Hamiltonian formalism, and to concept and tools to explore chaotic Hamiltonian Dynamics.

Recommended time/stage of studies for completion: 1. or 2. year

Term/teaching period when the course will be offered: varying

Definition of dynamical system and Hamiltonian dynamical system, Hamiltonian Formalism, Linear Hamiltonian systems, Variational principles, Canonical Transformations, Hamilton–Jacobi Theory and Action-Angle Variables, Poisson Brackets and Constants of Motion,Canonical Perturbation Theory, Small divisors and KAM theorem,Transition to Chaos in Hamiltonian Systems, Criteria for Local and Global Chaos.
